Pestrol Electronic Rat Assassin PRO

New and Improved Model!

Introducing the Pestrol Electronic Rat Assassin PRO — the next generation in safe, powerful, and humane electronic rodent control. Building on the success of the original model, the PRO version features enhanced safety systems, improved performance, and easier cleaning for long-term, reliable use.

Instant, Humane Elimination

The Rat Assassin PRO uses advanced smart-sensor technology to detect when a rodent enters the trap. Once contact is made with both stainless steel plates, the unit delivers a powerful, high-voltage shock that eliminates rats or mice instantly and humanely.

Key Features

  • Smart sensor triggers powerful high-voltage shock
  • Anti-escape door for maximum containment
  • Hands-free, hygienic rodent disposal
  • Easy-clean stainless steel interior
  • Battery operated (4 × AA) for cordless convenience
  • Red light indicates armed status
  • Humane, non-toxic, and highly effective

Smart Sensor System

Automatic detection ensures the trap only activates when a rodent is inside, preventing false triggers and conserving power.

Hands-Free Disposal

After the rodent is eliminated, simply open the trap door and tip the body into a bin — no need for direct contact. The stainless steel interior is easy to clean and maintain.

Flexible Power Options

Operates on 4 × AA batteries (not included) or mains power, giving you complete flexibility for indoor placement.

Anti-Escape Door Design

A secure anti-escape door ensures that once the rodent enters, it cannot exit before activation.

Setup Instructions

  1. Pull the Anti-Escape Door upwards until it clicks into place.
  2. Slide the top cover forward to remove.
  3. Insert 4 × AA batteries into the compartment.
  4. Place bait in the bait compartment.
  5. Slide the top cover back into place.
  6. Ensure the Anti-Escape Door is up.
  7. Long-press the power switch until the red light begins flashing — the trap is now set.
  8. Position the trap in a dry, indoor location away from water and moisture.

Important: Always ensure the trap is completely dry before reuse.

Safety Warnings

  • WARNING: Do not touch the device while the red light is on or flashing. The unit is delivering a high-voltage electric shock that can cause serious injury or death.
  • Wait until the blue light begins flashing before handling.
  • For indoor use only. Keep away from water, damp areas, and flammable materials.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not insert fingers or objects into the trap.
  • Do not use cleaners containing alcohol, pesticides, or deodorizers, as these may leave scents that deter rodents.
  • Always turn off power and remove batteries before cleaning or handling.
  • Individuals with heart conditions or similar medical devices should exercise particular care when using this product.

Failure to follow safety instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or injury.

FAQs

How does the Pestrol Electronic Rat Assassin PRO work?

The trap uses smart-sensor technology to detect when a rodent enters. When contact is made with both stainless steel plates, a high-voltage shock is delivered instantly and humanely, eliminating the rodent within seconds.

Is the Rat Assassin PRO safe to use around pets and children?

Yes, it is designed with safety features, but it must always be kept out of reach of children and pets. Never allow small pets (such as kittens or small rodents) near the trap, as they could trigger it.

Can this trap be used outdoors?

No. The unit is for indoor use only. It must be kept dry and away from water, rain, or damp conditions to prevent damage or electric shock.

What type of batteries does it use, and how long do they last?

The unit operates on 4 × AA batteries (not included). Battery life depends on usage, but typically lasts for several weeks to months under normal conditions.

How do I know when the trap has activated?

When the red light is on or flashing, the trap is delivering a high-voltage shock. Wait until the blue light flashes before handling or emptying the unit.

How do I dispose of the rodent?

Once the blue light is flashing, lift the door and simply tip the rodent into a rubbish bin — there’s no need for direct contact. Always wear gloves and ensure the trap is powered off before cleaning.

What bait should I use?

Peanut butter, nuts, or other high-protein foods work best. Avoid strong-smelling chemicals or deodorizers, as they can deter rodents.

How do I clean the trap?

Always turn off the power and remove the batteries first. Wipe the interior with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Ensure it is completely dry before reuse.

The red light stays on continuously — what does that mean?

A continuously flashing or solid red light means a rodent has entered and the unit is active. Do not touch the trap until the blue light starts flashing again.

What should I do if the trap stops working?

Check and replace the batteries, ensure the trap is dry, and verify that no debris or bait is obstructing the metal plates. If issues persist, contact Pestrol for support or troubleshooting advice.

Wow, this rat trap is fantastic! I got one massive rat within a couple of hours of plugging it in. Then caught another 5 or 6 rats over the next 4 or 5 days. I haven’t had any more rats for a couple of months. No poison, no dead rats stinking in the ceiling or under the deck, just dead in the trap. It even flashes to let you know you’ve got a rat.

This thing is incredible. We had a rat in the pantry that avoided every bait and trap we tried. Set up the Rat Assassin, added a dab of peanut butter, and within hours—done. No mess, no poison, just a quick, clean result. I love that it runs on batteries too—makes it easy to place in tight spots. Total game-changer.

What do the indicator lights mean? I lost the instructions. Bridget asked on 19 October 2025

Hi Bridget, apologies for the delayed response.

Red and Green Lights Flashing Alternately (once every 2 seconds):

This is your low battery indicator.

It will appear after powering on or after a rodent has been killed, signaling that the batteries are running low and should be replaced soon.

Other typical states (though you should confirm with your unit):

Solid Red or Flashing Red Alone: Often indicates the trap is armed and ready to kill.

Solid Green or Flashing Green Alone: Some traps show this when a rodent has been successfully eliminated, or when the trap is in standby/operational mode.

No Lights:

Could mean the trap is not powered or the batteries are completely dead.
