FAQs

What is the Tui Worm Farm used for?

It converts kitchen and garden waste into natural fertiliser – worm castings and nutrient-rich worm tea.

How many worms do I need to start?

We recommend starting with at least 1000 composting worms, available from most garden centres.

Where should I place my worm farm?

Keep it in a cool, shaded area out of direct sunlight to protect the worms.

What can I feed the worms?

Feed them kitchen scraps, tea leaves, coffee grounds, crushed eggshells, shredded paper, and cardboard.

What should I avoid putting in the worm farm?

Avoid citrus, onions, vinegar, salad dressing, meat, dairy, and oily foods as these can upset the pH balance.

How long before the worms start working?

Let the farm settle for 1–2 days. It may take up to a week for the worms to start processing waste

What is worm tea and how do I use it?

Worm tea is the liquid collected from the tray. Dilute it with water and use it as a liquid fertiliser on your plants.
