Aquilegia Long Spurred Hybrids (Aquilegia vulgaris) often called Granny’s Bonnet, has dainty bell flowers almost like fairy skirts, on tall upright stems. Prefers to be in the in shade, or sun in cooler regions. Plant these bright bi-colour columbines in clusters scattered through the garden for cottage garden appeal.
How To Grow:
Plant seeds 5mm deep in seed box or punnet and transplant when 5-7cm tall, 30-40cm apart.
Water regularly in dry weather and use a mulch of grass clippings or compost around each plant.
Feed with soluble fertiliser as buds start to form.
