The Pukekohe Long Keeper Onion (Allium cepa) are golden spheres, with white flesh, and are a staple for every pantry.  These beauties store for up to 10 months, are slow to bolt, and produce well in heavily manured and well dug sites.

How To Grow:

  1. Prepare the soil well by adding organic material like manure and a pre-planting fertiliser
  2. Sow thinly, 5mm deep in rows 20cm apart.
  3. Cover with fine soil or compost and keep moist.
  4. Thin seedlings early to 2cm and later to 10cm apart.
  5. Allow 20cm between rows.

  • South Island: Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug
  • North Island: Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug
